Liverpool delivered a dazzling performance in Bergamo, Italy, on Tuesday night, thrashing Atalanta 5-0 to maintain their perfect start in the UEFA Champions League Group D. Portuguese forward Diogo Jota stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane added goals to complete the rout.
Jota's first goal came in the 16th minute, when he pounced on a loose ball in the Atalanta defense and fired home from close range. He doubled his tally in the 33rd minute with a powerful header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. His hat-trick was completed in the 60th minute, when he coolly slotted home after a brilliant assist from Salah.
Salah added his name to the scoresheet in the 47th minute, finishing off a counter-attack with a clinical strike from the edge of the area. Mane made it 5-0 in the 89th minute with a tap-in from a Jordan Henderson cross.
The victory takes Liverpool to the top of Group D with a maximum of nine points from three matches. Atalanta, meanwhile, slip to third place with four points from three games.
